This way, you can browse as you wait for the bus to get full so you can finally get home. \u2018What a deal!\u2019 was the general sentiment whenever passengers saw this. Talk about customer care in this digital age!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the Problem\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As I entered the PSV with my Wi-Fi still switched on every evening, I would be ready to put my headphones on and listen to my playlist as we waited for the bus to fill up. I followed my ritual and noticed something disturbing: A song I\u2019ve never heard from an artist I\u2019ve never known before had been added to my playlist!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I proceeded to fumble over my phone as quickly as possible to pause and delete the song as the artist was mid-sentence promoting his new mixtape.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It had me thinking: How smooth of a breach, especially for those who had their smartphones out utilizing this FREE resource. What if they could access\u00a0my\u00a0confidential data\u00a0just\u00a0as quickly as\u00a0they\u00a0added something\u00a0unfamiliar\u00a0to my playlist?\u00a0Were my banking details, contacts, passwords, emails, and GPS location safe now?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  2. Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use. Make sure you\u2019re don\u2019t accidentally stumble into networks that can compromise your mobile security, turn off all automatic connections. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Always makes sure your system software is up to date. Every software update potentially addresses previous vulnerabilities identified and provides additional layers of protection against cyber-based threats, so constantly update your phone\u2019s system as recommended.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. \u00a0If you have your personal or work mailbox on your phone, ensure you have a robust authenticator (Microsoft, Google, or reputable third-party) and strong passwords for added measure.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Use a mobile phone-based antimalware solution to protect your files and browsing experience, reducing the chance of a malware-based attack.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
